Just go nuts with it.

Why do they always do this thing with Jesus movies where they all look and feel the same? Everything outside of Jesus himself, they try to do semi-historical. That's a nice way of saying they half-ass it. Then when it comes to the story and the events in Jesus's life, they skew Biblical, only they half-ass it there too. An example of the latter being that, in this film, Mary isn't literally visited by an angel who straight up speaks to her. As for the former, Jesus is white and they're all speaking English.

If I had my chance to make an epic film about Jesus, I'd just go nuts and do one of two things.

One is, do a film that attempts to be strictly historical, without any supernatural elements, any white-washing, any English speakers, etc. I know it's debated whether or not Jesus really existed but I don't see that as an excuse to not take such an approach. Make the most educated guess what this man's life could have actually been, if he did exist.

The other approach I'd consider is just going balls out crazy with the supernatural/fantasy stuff and toss historical accuracy to the wind. Do a Jesus movie so weird it makes Noah look tame in comparison. This would probably be the most fun way to do it, especially knowing how many fundamentalists it would piss off.

The Last Temptation of Christ is probably the best Jesus movie next to Passion IMO. I'm not religious but I am very cosmically spiritual. That being said a good movie is a good movie and I'm not so sure about this one..
