Ewwwwwwwww.....Just a Horrible Flm, an absolute creative failure!

I was so looking forward to this....

Movies like this are my all time favorite Genre, I love movies where theres a detective or person trying to catch a serial killer.

from the moment I heard about this film I was excited, and then you add The incredible cast, This was truly one of my most anticipated films....

But dear lord, This was a complete creative failure....I now understand why this script has been shelved since the earlier 90's....

The Ending of this film is IMO up there with The Ending Of M Night Shayamalan's "Glass" as literally one of the worst ending of all time....

I do admit, I enjoyed the first hour of this film...

but it completely falls apart the moment the interrogation of Jared Leto's characters ends.....In fact, I need to do some thinking but I honestly cant remember a film that falls off a cliff this badly

This film should have never been made.....IMO its clear the script sat around in development hell for 30 years because NO liked or had confidence in The last hour of this film.

This Film should NOT exist....Instead A completely different version of this film should exist, where the writer/director rewrote The last half of this film YEARS AGO and IMO Then This script would have easily been picked in the 90s or 2000s and made by a major studio

Instead, This script sat around for 30 years, where Dozens of Studios probably past on it because they knew The last of half the movie was un-filmable....and finally in a time when Streaming Platforms are desperate for original content, One of these streaming services pulls the trigger of this AWFUL script.....

Literally IMO one of the biggest creative failures of all time considering the talent involved.

PS

I realize everyone is entitled to their own opinion, If you enjoyed the film....congrats!

It’s essentially the plot of Seven without the good twist. Do you know what Denzel was looking at in the tool box at the end when he’s burning Leto’s stuff and they flashback to the coroner and the girl?

reply

It has a metascore of 55 and Imdb rating of 6.5 (falling). But the critic scores range from 30 to 90, so some did like it. Took it off my watch list.

reply

Yep, if you take out all the scenes where characters are just driving or walking towards something, it would only be 35 minutes long. Utter trash! That's all we get now in a post CONvid world. I can't wait for all these masktards to stop buying into the BS, and put things back the way they were already. This new abnormal anti-social distancing, and endless rules makes me want to vomit.

reply

We were going through a pandemic at the time, you stupid idiot. No matter what you anti-mask idiots who apparently didn't mind getting sick because your dumb asses didn't want to accept that basic reality, that's how it was. Wearing masks simply cut down on spreading the disease. Only anti-mask and anti-vaccine idiots like you pushing these stupid bulls*** conspiracy theories made things worse for everybody.

reply

If you think CONvid was real, it turns out that you're one of the dumbest fucks to have ever existed.

reply

I kind of liked it, but something felt off about it, but it seems like everything was off. The character exposition, backstories, the narrative all felt flawed in some way.

reply

Yeah, if they can't collect millions in box office profits, they're going to continue to dust off these old garbage type films for us all. That's why Avengers was called "End Game", as in Game Over, as in end of the theater experience. They knew this CONvid crap was coming for decades, and planned it all in their "Operation Lockstep" whitepaper (google it). That's why all the stores had the plexiglass and floor stickers overnight. All that crap was sitting in warehouses ready to distribute as part of their "Great Reset". Turns out there's nothing great about it except they get install more control and restrictions, like a 911 on demand whenever they want now. As long as the fake virus exists in the news, the movies will never again reach the potential of "Godfather status" ever again. If CONvid were real, tons of the workers at stores that have been open the entire time like Walmart and Home Depot would be dead by now, and that is not even close to the case. All the death counts are hijacked from other things to pad their numbers (like regular flu, pneumonia, deaths). Go check out the death census records, and you'll see that no more people died in 2020 than in any other recent year. There is NO giant 400,000 person death spike in the death records. It's around the same as last year. It's all a sham. Heck, if you get hit by a bus or eaten by a shark, they mark your death as CONvid. This was admitted by Deborah Birx on national TV here: Dr. Deborah Birx | Recording Covid-19 as Cause of Death No Matter What

Do you wear a mask when you go out in public ?

Only ask because The answer to that question drastically raises the chances of My "Bad Wishing" coming true...

I've narrowed my "Bad Wishing" down to 1 Bad Wish....

and I think I got a very good chance of my wish coming true ...

So again I ask Do you wear a mask when you go out in public ?

Oh, shut up. None of your bull**** conspiracy theories turned out to be true. You watched way too much damn fox news and listened to too much of that Qnon bull****. It's idiots like you spreading this fake bull**** misinformation that almost got people killed due to Covid.

reply

go get your 5th booster, and put another dirty diaper on your face jackass. CONvid was a complete farce!

reply

true. after disliking it, I found out about the 30 year old script, then it made more sense. audiences have evolved since then, and I am sure they rewrote this, but YAG, what a waste! MINIMAL payoffs in the end... and everything else you said.

I was BARELY on board after it got going - checking phone, surfing which I NEVER do during films - but, when that cop got in to the psycho's car, my brain grabbed a boarding ticket, a passport and took a long flight to Brazil. Waste of time.

GOTTA start waiting, and checking metacritic before watching new releases.
I think they are pumping out the schlock because they think we are still DESPARATE for something to watch.

Clue for Hollywood: I still have old offline discs of GOOD movies to rewatch over and enjoy

I wouldn't go quite as far as to say it was terrible, but it was a huge dissapointment considering the talent involved. The script was writing in the 90's and it shows.

reply

I like this film. It was a character driven picture. John Lee Hancock did a great job. I would love his thoughts about the "real"killer.

reply

I liked how the movie was set in the '90s----the fact that there were no cell phones and quick ways to get out of danger made the film even more suspenseful and creepy---I liked that entire opening scene, which by itself was very suspenseful. I have to admit I didn't like what happened at the end with Leto's character, and yeah, the movie never makes it flat-out clear whether he's guilty or not. That's one of the few things I didn't like about it---the other was when they showed the dead bodies at the lab.

reply

One major issue I had was how Rami's character was handled. When we meet him he's cool, calm and collected at yet another murder scene. Always with a stupid smirk. There's no signs that this is a guy haunted by his cases. When the parents of the missing girl show up at the station he even passes them off to someone else. All of the actions are that of a cop in control of his emotions. Then he meets the parents of the missing girl and suddenly he's so obsessed with the case that he drives off with the suspect, digs all of these holes when he's clearly being messed with and hits the guy with a shovel? It doesn't fit at all. The ending was problematic but the whole middle section where nothing is really developed is how it really goes wrong.

reply

Agree, terrible acting by Rami. His expressions, his reactions were all off. Leto was too hammy and Denzel snoozed this performance. What a disappointing paycheck parade this was! Three Oscar winning actors showing they are only good when under the strict thumb of a talented director. Sadly this film sorely lacked that too. It lacked just about everything.
