Reason for cancellation

Does anyone know why this was canceled? I still re watch it....this show has more wit and heart than most *beep* on tv anyday such a bummer

reply

I just finished re-watching it last night for at least the 5th time...bummed that there isn't more of it to watch :/

reply

Because showtime shows usually go down the *beep* after 3 seasons so the executive did the creators a favor.

Do I have to give it to you?

From what I recall, Showtime basically chose between "Nurse Jackie" and "United States of Tara" because of the arguably similar content, and it was more cost-effective to keep just one. This sadly didn't have "enough viewership," so it got the boot.

I loved "Nurse Jackie" too, but it started to tank. "United States of Tara" definitely had more life in it beyond three seasons, but it was not to be. A real pity.

Seriously. I ask this all the time.

I always held out hope that they would resurrect it or maybe Netflix would pick it up after all these years but with how well Brie Larson is doing, that dream certainly died. I guess they could do it without Kate but it really wouldn't feel the same. It's a damn shame, this honestly was one of the best written shows on TV.

I'm convinced it was a show that was about three-five years before its time. Had it started a few years later, possibly around when Shameless got popular, I think it would have lasted a lot longer or may even still be on.
