Uninspired unoriginal gore porn

I love horror films, but come on this was just crap. Following in the crappy overloaded to the point of being cartoonish gore that Hostel made popular, Carver is over the top and almost laughably bad.
The acting wasn't all that great. Not the worst I've seen but pretty standard for a low budget film. The effects were half decent, but again, the kill scenes were overdone and overly graphic. When was it written that post Hostel every single horror film after saw has to be a competition to make the biggest, nastiest mess? That's not horror thats the movie version of a internet shock site. That's right, everyone who watched this got suckered into an hour and a half long 'pain olympics' or '2girls1cup'.
It's a crappy trend but I sadly don't see it changing anytime soon. The last few years having a storyline, atmosphere, or even interesting chars took a backseat to overblown kill scenes.
