How did Navarro know what was going to happen when Roman opened the statue? Are we to assume he just kind of pieced it all together from things he'd heard and what had been going on with the zombies?

Also, at the point where you come across the pirate impaled on the trap and Drake remarks that the trap had been fashioned using parts of their plane, who exactly was supposed to have made that? They talked about it as if it was something important that would be revealed later.

Well first off: yes Navarro did know that it would happen.
because navarro explains of the stories and legends of the statue that he has heard, and he claims that he will be selling the statue as a weapon.

As for the trap, most people (including me) will say that it was the "zombie mutants" that built the trap, for two reasons:
1- nathan says that someone, or something, has been "gnawing" on the dead pirate
2- nathan remarks that there are "weird tracks" around the trap and body

I hope this cleared some things up.

Cheers bud. I did wonder about the zombie things, but the way they were presenting them was as if trap-building was beyond their intellect. Ah well, top game.
