Why did the girls give Big such a hard time and not Steve?

I felt like the girls sympathized with Steve more than Big. What Big did was wrong but Steve still cheated on Miranda. Yes, he is still a good guy and Miranda was being a bad wife. She should've treated him better but there is still no excuse for cheating. How is anyone supposed to completely trust someone after they sleep with someone?

Apart of me feels like they all wouldn't at least heard Big's side, but with Steve, they acted as if he should have been forgiven, no problem.

Because Big had been a douchebag for most of their relationship. It was just the last drop. Carrie couldn't really trust him. Steve on the other hand had always been there for Miranda. She had turned cold so he felt alone. What he did was not ok, but understandable. It happens in marriages and life. But the regret he felt was real and the girls knew that. After cooling down Miranda saw that she had a part in what happened and it probably made them closer to one another. Trust could be restored.

John was known for his commitment issues whereas in Steve he was pretty much there for Miranda despite their ups and downs.
