I am amazed how nobody even comments about Charlotte's attitude against

Mexicans. Especially their food. Like hamburgers and all the crap you americans eat (including the bastardization of mexican food) were high profile delicatessen

reply

She doesn't say anything against Mexicans. And it's just a fact that food and water in Mexico can make you sick. She was probably being overly paranoid, but so are you. And Tex-Mex food is delicious.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

She did drink bottled water? In the restaurant when she wiped the top. I agree her actions were over the top but you're coming across just as judgemental and bigoted with what you're saying about the "white man" Europe" and "Americans"

"What you don't like rice? Tell me Michael, how can a billion Chinese people be wrong?"

my post got deleted, but my point stands out.

I didn't read it but I think my point stands out. You made an incorrect accusation regarding the bottled water, Charlotte DOES drink it. Like I said, I think she acts like a bit of an idiot too but I still think you need to control your anger a bit and watch your comments regarding "white man.." etc you sound just as bad

"What you don't like rice? Tell me Michael, how can a billion Chinese people be wrong?"

reply

Yeah, yeah...Mexico was heaven on earth until the evil white man came along and messed everything up.

You must be fun at parties.

reply

Wow - you are just a friggin biggot aren't you? Then again, Charlotte acted like a moron, they were in a 5 star resort. "Filthy Europeans???" Wow....

reply

I'm amazed too. Diarrhea is awesome - only a total bigot would turn their nose up at that.

Charlotte got the runs from a tiny mouthful of water - she was paranoid about getting sick, there is nothing wrong with that.

reply

I thought she got the runs because of all the chocolate pudding she was eating, not that little bit of water she spit out.

reply

No one gets diarrhea from a mouthful of water. This movie is so anti-Mexico, Im surprised the distributors got away with it when they released this garbage here.

reply

How the hell do you know? You can get diarrhea from a mouthful of water. That isn't anti-Mexico. What else happened there that backs up your opinion?

I really like your car Mrs. Larusso!

reply

Really? My husband did. Stop trolling, no one's anti-Mexico here, give it a rest.

reply

Actually they can. My husband was doing the exact same thing when he was in Mexico. He was taking a shower and wasn't thinking and swallowed a very small amount of water and that was it. He was sick for two days. My husband goes there about three to four times a year for work and it's absolutely true that you must be careful about the food , water and other conditions. He has to bring antibiotics with him just Incase he starts to feel ill while he's there Incase something he ate wasn't good. The conditions down there are very very different. You can't even flush toilet paper! In every bathroom in every public place including hotels there are signs they tell you NOT to flush your toilet paper but to throw it in the trash! That's why they have a huge problem with feces, contamination and Hep C (the kind spread through fecal matter). The poor hotel maids come in 4 times a day to remove the trash! The water is bad because of other unrelated issues but it's absolutely true that it can make you very ill. Even in the hotel there are signs reminding you to be careful and even provide you with complimentary bottled water.

reply

BTW, that doesn't mean that once you know what to do that those issues can't be avoided. You learn how to adapt to those conditions and as long as your smart and pay attention you should be fine. But it can and does happen. However, 4 and 5 star resorts are very careful about the water/food issue. Ice is made using good water as well as vegetables/fruits/cooked food being cared for in the same way. But there is still the possibility of human error. My sister was in a 5 star resort that had always had impeccable service/standards. On her most recent visit However she ended up with a severe case of food poisoning/contamination because the food had not been prepared/rinsed/cooked properly that time and that night the people eating and drinking all became ill. It was a combination of a few new people (workers) and the resort who made s few small mistakes and let some things slide. A rare one time thing, but it happens. But, as long as you educate yourself and know how to navigate the conditions you should be fine.Just know what to do and what not to do.

reply

There's definitely a stigma people have about Mexican water—and the truth is you do need to be careful, but it's as easy as just drinking bottled water.

North Americans flood into all-inclusive resorts and binge in excess of alcohol and food all day every day, quite often this is the actual culprit. They shock their bodies that aren't used to it. Never mind we all have naturally occurring bacteria that are used to our diets at home, naturally-occurring bacteria in food from other countries can easily (and often does) conflict in sensitive stomachs.

Tourists never want to take responsibility for their own actions though.

Charlotte's depiction was awful, I would be so embarrassed to travel with someone like that.

reply

I was more bothered about that creepy Cinderella mask she insisted Lily wore. Just let her be an Asian Cinderella. Yeah I know it was so Carrie could then put it on when she didn't want to be recognised. Still annoyed me.

reply

This topic pleases me. I don't know if Charlotte was supposed to come off as "anti-Mexico" as it has been put, but I've never liked Charlotte's character for this and similar reasons. She is a sanctimonious bitch who looks down in disapproval at everyone around her and throws pouty little hissy fits if you just look at her wrong.

I would prefer to watch her lose a battle to food poisoning, over a little diarrhea.

But that's just me. She's a horrible character.

What about when Miranda is apartment hunting in that multicultural neighborhood, then says “oh look a white guy with a baby, let’s follow him”. As if she could only look at apartments in buildings where other white families resided. This film is more than 10 years old but some of this stuff in it sounds like it belongs back in the ‘50s.

reply

That was because she knew the guy was well-off financially. She wanted to be in a good neighborhood.
