...THE worst movie EVER made. and that means of ALL TIME. whenever someone says they've seen the worst film of all time, i ask them if they've seen this one and if they haven't then i say the haven't seen the worst movie of all time.
i cannot express to you how awful this movie is.
I've seen easily over 100 Troma films, but 'Actium Maximus' was the only one I couldn't finish all the way through. It actually surpasses the label of "bad movie" and thrusts straight into "neo-surrealist art"...it has little to no regard for anything resembling coherency. It's actually kind of admirable.
I liken 'Actium' to the cinematic equivalent of Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music"...an endurance test/assault on the senses. If you can sit all the way through it, you're a better man/woman than most...but once you do, you realize there was never really any point in doing so.
And at least 'Star Worms II' had an awesome poster.
I don't mean this as a "MY sh'tty movie is worse than YOUR sh'tty movie!" response, but personally, I do think there are worse ones out there. At least there was some ambition involved with Actium Maximus. Other low budget messes don't even try, like, for example, The Graveyard of Death, or Scream (1981).
