Hilarious.

This movie really sets you up for one of the best endings ever.

I still don't understand the significance of the ending.

It's just an homage to the godzilla-esque action movies of yore.

In particular, it's an homage to the long-running series of Ultraman TV shows and films. I'm struggling to find any relevant images on IMDb, but if you do a google image search for "ultraman", you'll see what I mean.

Search for Ultraman Family if you want to see the full assortment.

I thought whole movie was hilarious but the end was way way beyond. I nearly pooped myself and some other person in the audience actually did.

The ending is MUCH more than a straight homage to the old Ultraman shows et. al. The big red demon monster is MUCH more than just another monster (his country of origin is strongly suggested in the film). To be Japanese is to probably "get" much more out of these two elements of the film. I'm not Japanese, so I could only sense that there was more to what the film was explicity showing during the last 20 minutes. Once I did some research, though, I'm still not convinced the ending works as well as it could have. Then again, maybe by Japanese standards it's just peachy. :(
