red monster

after he first shows up you see a news segment of a lady saying that big man japan angered their nation's general. you also see that the speech is being subtitled in japanese. so my question is what language was the newslady speaking? was it korean??? if so, that would explain a lot about why the monster attacks big man japan, and why the american heroes become involved.

Yes, the lady was wearing traditional Korean garb. The General is most likely representing N. Korea. However, it could also imply Chinese influence as N. Korea is a puppet state of China and the Red General is Communism in general. That last scene is just political satire about how Japan seems impotant against the Reds and depends on U.S. support. Thus BiG Man Japan's comment about how his hand makes no difference when the Super Justice Family shot out its rainbow beam.

A North Korean broadcaster would NOT refer to a Chinese general as "our general". I'm not just talking about the literal meaning -- in North Korea nobody is important but the Kims.

You are totally right. I'm just speculating what the satiric symbolism in the movie might mean. Being satire and written by a Japanese guy, realism about the state of N. Korea is probably sacrificed for comedic art. At the end of the day, I lol'd, so the movie did its job.
