15?????

I just wanted to say that this movie is nowhere near a 15 rating. It's barely even a 12A.
I don't know how it got categorized but imo (i'm no expert) but there wasn't anything really bad in this film. There was one part with a monsters "penis" but it didn't look like one and it was on the back side of the monster.
I've seen family movies come out of Japan that have more adult content in e.g. yokai war.

Besides this I also want to say this film has one of the, if not, THE funniest ending to any film I have ever seen... ever.

What are you talking about? It's rated Pg-13. Anyway the ending sucks, it makes less sense than the monsters themselves and was absolutely out of place. It was a lot lamer than I expected. You must not see many comedies.

reply

It's rated 15 in the UK... There is a world outside the US you know.
:O OMG you have a different opinion to me, that means I must have no sense of humour and everyone who doesn't think the end of the movie sucks is wrong? Dude have you ever heard of the word 'subjective'.
I thought the fact that the ending was so out of place and bizarre, it just had me in tears. How can you even bring sense into a movie like this anyway, I mean the whole film is one big piece of crazy that's Matsumoto for you...

reply

Then if you'd be so kind as to explain how something out of place and bizarre counts as funny I might understand better. The whole movie is bizarre.

reply

Yes, people find bizarre funny. It'd be hard to have been watching so much asian cinema and not understand that bizarreness and surreality are a major factor in a lot of comedies. I can't explain why it's funny, it's something I tend not to over-analyse every time I laugh or try to understand why I laugh, it kind of ruins the moments you know.

If you didn't find it funny then great, doesn't mean the film isn't funny just means you have a different sense of humour (You mean there's more then just my sense of humour?, yes I do...)

Not everything in life has to have a meaning, not every film in the world has to make sense, not everyone who finds this film funny has to explain why it's funny and try to convince you to find it funny to. Stop wasting so much time trying to understand why people find it funny and go watch another film...

Ok fair enough, I am a Kurosawa fan regarding Asian cinema but I guess the point of the humor some will find in this film is that it's meant to be totally random. For me it depends on the type of bizarre placing that dictates if it's funny or not. Yes I suppose I do have a different sense of humor. Not to be rude or anything. I had never heard of Hitoshi Matsumoto until this film and to me it's slow aside from the monster scenes. I guess it's harder to explain why certain things are funny unless you have been watching the genre .

By the way, what sort of bizarre movies do I think are funny? Generally I'd say dark or offbeat comedies if you were wondering. I see a lot more Hollywood.

Alright ok yeah ignore me now. No problem. Sorry I'm not you.
