Now shooting in NY City

The movie is now (8/19-22/08) shooting on location in NY City on 33rd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenue. They are using the now closed Cheyenne Diner as a set.

Today they were filming on Mcdougal street and West 4th

Yeah they were on Minetta Lane. There were lots of extras in funky clothes and an amazing drag queen.

they were filming around the corner from my house on 10th and first today...was coming home from work and saw two trailers parked in the street on first ave, an older guy who looked a little like john hurt sitting outside of one, smoking a cigarette, so i came up and asked him what they were filming, and realized it was him. hurt was very nice, said they were filming an englishman in new york, i asked him if he was playing the englishman, to which he chuckled and said he was playing quentin crisp, i'd never heard of him until i checked the movie.

I just saw the movie last night, had DVR'd it some time ago. I thought they caugtht the time period really well. I used to live on 5th street in the east village and would see him walking sometimes and other times in the diner on the corner. Now I wished I would have talked to him, or at least gone to see one of his shows! I thought some of the filming locations were a bit odd as they were rarely in the east village, but I guess they had to film where they had to film.

I remember Quentin saying he loathed the Village. I don't remember the exact location but he lived at 2nd ave. about a block or two from the Orpheus and Theater for the New City in which he was actively involved. The locations were all wrong for this film.

P.S. I find it very hard to believe that Quentin would not know what a "backroom" was. And if he didn't know, he would have figured it out. Quentin was not a vulgarian .... he just thought like one.
