Good Film, But even better soundtrack.

The soundtrack enhanced the film even more for me.

Any one else like soundtrack?

I LOOOVE it but some songs are not credited and I can't find what what they are... like the song when Otis tells reily he asked her dad to take her to the prom....

Here's the song list from the end credits (two of 'em weren't credited here on imdb, but I just submitted 'em):

Venus by Shocking Blue
The Great Curve by The Talking Heads
Baby, Please Don't Go by Paul Revere and the Raiders
I Ran (So Far Away) by Flock of Seagulls
Cum On Feel the Noize by Quiet Riot
Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult
Gut Feeling (Slap Your Mammy) by Devo
52 Girls by The B-52s

I was also trying to find the name of that song. It's DEFINITELY not listed on IMDB, I just youtubed every song here and in the credits.

The soft, piano, instrumental song, right? When Riley wakes up and she does something to get him mad and he threatens to hit her; that song is so sad, I wish I knew what it was called!

reply

I think the piano instrumental you're talking about is Neal Young's "Heart of Gold". It sounds a bit different without the vocals and harmonica.

Yes, the movie was terrible but the soundtrack was really good!

I jumped out of my chair when DEVO came on

reply

Me too!

DEVO had a ton of great songs that just don't get much respect.

To each his own, but I thought the soundtrack failed miserably. Nothing against the songs, they just didn't fit the mood or storyline of the film, let alone enhance it. I was looking for a way to turn off the background music so I could concentrate on the movie.

reply

What are you talking about?!
The Soundtrack was perfect and was there to emphasize his (Otis) obsession with the past.
It totally fits the character and the mood of the movie and I couldn't imagine this movie working with some other soundtrack after my first view!

reply

As I said, to each his own.

reply

Yep. First-rate dynamic soundtrack of choice rock gems. It's always nice to hear "Venus" by Shocking Blue in anything.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

What was the song playing when Otis met Riley at the door with pizza? It was a mad metal guitar solo number. I youtubed all the aforementioned songs; the closest is "Don't Fear Th e Reaper", but I still doubt it.
