Barry Humphries is ... a SCREAM! :)

Scene 1 of the film (all the good racy juicy stuff ...) featured Dame Edna Everedge (thankfully out of character / caricature, haha) being interviewed about the state of Aussie cinema pre and post "reform", if you will. Humphries really is funny. His sense of humor is so dry and drole that at first I thought he was an inordinately clever film historian. Took me awhile to fig out that he was Dame Edna (an acquired taste if ever there were one) out of drag.
Scene 1's the best part of this film, if you ask me.
But, all of it is worth a look if only to learn about a cinema some Americans might have been muchly exposed to (?) I sure wasn't. No one I know was.
Another highly funny "character" i'viewed was a producer of the films covered in the Doc whose name (wouldn't you know?( I have forgotten but who I recall was wearing a red and white "Aloha" shirt, and undershirt. His i'views were accompanied by a stripper, hilariously. That guy had me in stitches .

I love how Aussies can laugh at themselves and The British with aplomb, or what seems like it.

That was film producer/director John Lamond who has about 5 movies included in this documentary ("Women find me a sex object -- I want sex and they object.")

Thank you. At first I thought you were telling me that the dude I thought was Humphries (the one wearing the brown suit and looking natty) was John Lamond, and I was incredulous, but you are referring to the dude wearing the "Aloha" shirt commenting with the pole dancer gyrating in the background, no?

Funny, were his comments! That guy missed his calling to have been a Comedian seems to me. I love wry drole folks. I really do.

I had recognized the name Barry Humphries right away. I knew he was an actor in Australia before taking on the Dame Edna persona, but I didn't realize how wild he was. He's like a Aussie Divine, for lack of a better comparison. You gotta respect someone who will totally lose his self-respect to make you laugh!

Warped,

I agree!

Humphries is the best, isn't he? So funny and able to adapt and play many personae, as well .

He's hilarious and Barry, and she's hilarious as Edna! I love that type of oddball humor where s/he is just sort of "on" and going with the moment. I suspect pranksters like Sacha Baron Cohen owe a lot to him and/or her.
