The above are the correct words and their respective contractions. Pairs such as 'could of', 'should of', and so on are not valid word pairings. What's happening here is that, bluntly, you don't read very much, or very well. You are hearing a contraction (e.g., 'should've'), and because you don't read, you are mishearing the 'should've' as 'should of'. This is similar to other errors, many considered to be mondegreens, and they are errors that people who *do* have a reading level above grade three frequently make fun of. I know that once I hit an error that is the result of a lack of ability and/or education, I tend to skim the rest (if I finish it at all) and disregard whatever it is the person is saying because I figure that they are extremely stupid.
