Why in God's name is this movie not in Portuguese??

with English subtitles, like city of god? Just looks and sounds so fake this way.

It´s better in english than with portuguese from Portugal accent.

Will be worst than Wagner Moura spanish in Narcos.

You do know Wagner Moura is Brazilian and therefore speaks Portuguese with a Brazilian accent, as well as for any other language he would speak in, it would be with a Brazilian Portuguese accent. Second, since it is a biography of Pelé's life, I think it would have given his life accounts more justice if it was in the original Brazilian Portuguese with maybe certain view points in English, such as the World Cup scenes, which would be totally understandable.

the problem is exactly that, if has to be in English, at least they could choose actors without Portuguese from Brazil accent, plus the english level is really low

City of God was a Brazilian movie. This one, in spite of the subject matter, is an American production, which is why it is in English.

I would not mind it spoken in the authentic language, I would watch subtitles no problem but I am guessing like others say, money.............

Probably for the same reason Gladiator wasn't made in Latin, or Life or Brian wasn't made in Latin, Hebrew, and Aramaic.

And so on.

Sounds like a weak answer : Latin is basically a dead language, Portuguese is spoken by hundred of millions of people (Brazil, 200.000.000, Portugal 10.000.000, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, etc.)

It would have been nice if everything was in Portuguese and like the World cup scenes in like half English, half Portuguese...but American's love putting their own "jeitinho" in every story they tell. However, I got to say, the movie did give me super chills because Brazil is definitely like that when it comes to the World Cup. Via Brasil!!!
