Was Brazil really the underdogs in 1958?
I find it hard to believe they were the outsiders (even at group stage). Did they made it just for the movie for drama? It feels stupid.

No they weren't. Again it was for drama's sake. At the group stage they were favorites and qualified without any problem and didn't concede a goal. After the semi final victory they were at least not outsiders for the final. Sweden were not the big favorites as portrayed in the film
