The murder wasn't that realistic

I just saw the movie. I have two problems in regards to the murder. Rachel's eyes are wide open throughout the strangling. I doubt someone would really be that wide eyed while being choked? It looked a little silly. I'd imagine that someone would be squinting and making other expressions during. I also noticed, that at no point did Rachel try to grab at the cord while it was around her neck, which would be a natural reflex while being strangled. Those two details really bothered me, especially since everyone was raving about how realistic this scene was.

If you read about it, you'll find where they rehearsed the strangulation scene in front of police force to make it as realistic as possible. Detectives said it was VERY realistic!

Other than that...I find your need for absolute detail to strangling someone is quite disturbing.

The reason why I'm curious about this scene is because, after having watched alot of Horror and Action movies, I've noticed that ALOT of those death scenes are very unrealistic, so I find it interesting to watch more realistic looking death scenes for a change. BTW, could you provide a link to the rehearsal article?

Hi lorenzoocon, yeah...I'm looking for the article, I know I saved it but finding it is a whole nother story. I hate when I lose stuff, it's frustrating. But, alas...I know I put it somewhere and will post it the moment I find it.

And, too...you have to keep in mind that this film was a true story...not just BASED on a true story...so they wanted it to be as realistic as possible.

Okies...I promise to post the article when/if I find it. I'm pretty sure I read that Kate Bell, who played Rachel Barber, also had some actual redness and bruising around her neck after filming that scene as well. Ooooh...I hope I can find that darn article, I found it rather interesting and informative...which is why I'm quite positive I saved it in a bookmark.

lorenzoocon...I found the link...it is also posted in another thread but I'll re-post it and ccp the paragraph in question.

"They finished shooting the brutal murder only a short while ago and actress Kate Bell, 23, who plays Rachel, still has the welts on her neck from the strain. Some of the scarlet marks on her throat are make-up, she says, but some are real. The scene got pretty intense, with Ruth holding the cord in place as Kate kicked and flailed, simulating the horror of strangulation. There was an FBI adviser on hand to make sure the brutal physicality of the murder was authentic."

I think you'll find the whole article, in the link below, rather interesting.

I can pass judgement if I want and I don't believe your excuse especially with your message board history.

Exactly. And considering this is a true story and actually happened it's pretty insensitive.

Omg. That scene was one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen in my life. Ugh.
