Searching for spiritual hits

Pretty movie, nice music, big Sukowa fan here, good enough portrayal of a life, but where's the spiritual insight or uplift? Has to be there. The film downplayed spirituality in favor of church political analysis.

1. Von Bingen stuck to the visions/music she got in spite of societal/church pressure to follow the rules rather than the inner understanding she was given, and it worked! She was quite effective.

2. Von Bingen loved Richardis because God told her to. She felt she needed Richardis and fought like a tiger to keep her, and subsequent events could be said to have proved her right.
