though occurring in 1 in 2000 births, intersex doesn't show up in film or literature, or when it does, people don't realize that is a condition and are just listing a series chromosomes - the writer of Strangers in Paradise wrote a Graphic novel where a woman melds with an atomic suit (I don't make this up, just relay it), and ends up as XXY - The writer seems to think this is unique and the 'next wave of human'.
The one intersex film I can think of is Hanna, however, I doubt that the creators of the film realize that is what they are saying Hanna is. Films for transgender/transsexual children (like Tomboy), or adults (Hit or Miss, the UK series from Sky), are more likely.
I didn't read that into Hanna's character. Could you give us some clues to your interpretation?
shareHanna holds a chromosome listing which states it is 'abnormal' - currently, except for specific diseases, the term for having an abnormal chromosome make up is called intersex - for example, being stronger for a female is called CAH, or AIS, amoung other variations.

*NOTE* - XXY is full of inaccuracies about intersex conditions. XXY chromosome pattern is called 'Kleinfelters' and medically is nothing like how it's presented in the film. I recommend the film only because of the representation of psychosocial issues related to intersex.
