Read the stories at 'Hurt by Homebirth'

If you're considering homebirth, go in educated, not simply influenced by propaganda like this.

Thanks for posting that site. It's heartbreaking reading these women's stories.

I read the first couple of stories and have to ask...what research did these people who chose home births do? I mean really...Chinese herbs to stop bleeding? Not transferring when there's a serious problem? This sounds like issues with the midwife (kinda like how many doctors suck?) rather than the issue being the safety of home birth.

I voted for Frenchie and Dia like a sex donkey on Xanax.

Choosing a midwife really shouldn't be much different than choosing a doctor. You want to be sure they know what they're doing and you trust them. It's like any other profession - there are crappy ones out there. You do your research and get yourself a good one. I would not personally trust a midwife who planned to stop bleeding with herbs and would not enlist the services of one like that. I want one who knows her limits and when to call in the hopefully unnecessary back-up.

I agree, seems more like a cruddy midwife than a problem with home birth per se.
