The Garbage of Wall Street

This movie sucked and had no redeeming quality despite its top notch team.
There is absolutely nothing redeeming about Jordan. The whole movie is one big narcissist shallow pitfall glamorize these deadbeats lives and we all know they left a lot out of Jordan's real pathetic life.

reply

And it makes perfect sense since the movie is based on Jordan's own book.

reply

Which is his fantasy version.

reply

Yep, and what even saddens me even more is I went to visit a longtime friend and unfortunately he has been caught up in severe alcohol addiction. His brain has been so rewired he just had to show me the funny scenes from this movie, you know, the scene where the drugs take a long time to kick in and cause Jordan to wreck a sports car and his friend back at the house flattened by the drugs effect. Now my alcoholic friend looks up to losers like this.

reply

Sad.
This is why thiz movie is such garbage. It makes it funny, hip, and glamorises it. Sending a bad message.

reply

Only weak-minded people get inspired to do stupid shit from a movie.

reply

agreed. movie is crap. like basically every movie corsese made with decaprio. he completely lost his mojo after goodfellas, i mean completely.

reply

I'm a huge fan of the Aviator and the Departed wasn't that bad. I have it ranked higher than Goodfellas which I never really liked. Casino is better to me. Way better.

reply

Agreed.

reply

This movie is incredible, and you are full of shit. Have a good day.

And to the person blaming this film because an alcoholic friend looks up to it...it's not a movie's job to be a moral compass. It's a movie's job to be a movie. Get your friend help, and tell them to stop looking up to losers in this movie.

This film is about the wild ride of some very unlikeable characters, much like most of Scorsese's movies, and it's entertaining as hell. Easily one of the best movies of 2013!

reply

You have bad taste.

reply

I agree, this movie was kind of a cringe-fest. Full of bad fratboy humour and annoying glamorization of criminal behaviour, something which Scorsese movie’s in the past avoided. The reason for this is it’s just an adaption of Belfort’s wish fulfillment fantasies. This c*cksucker ruined hundreds of lives and he gets a movie about his life.

reply

hundreds? Millions? barely did time. Got out, made a book, made a movie, goes to seminars, still swimming in millions.
and the domino effect that now millions want to be him.

reply

Sorry but this movie is one of best things ever released. The script, dialog, acting, and direction is some of the best in cinema history. It's not a raunchy teen comedy and it's not morally sound. It's a very complex story with equally complex and engaging characters. Characters that would exist in real life handling some of the craziest situations people would face in the real world. People are not perfect and sometimes not morally sound but that's life. It's unapologetic for it clear sighted take on human behavior. Most of the people who have lived on campus at a large state school had semesters full of the antics these guys face save the money.

You can't say a movie is bad and demonize it just because you don't like the behavior of it's characters.

reply

Well stated.
I'm not crazy about Wolf of WS, but I would rather wrestle with the merits of it versus reckoning how wonderful A Dog's Purpose is.

The script is laughable. Every cliche imaginable. Nothing redeeming or realistic. Everything is way over the top and implausible. Anybody who beliefs anything like this is possible is an idiot.
The dialog is for adolescents who think you actually talk like this in the real world. There was nothing complex or engaging on any of these characters. Anyone would tell you that any of these actors had far better movies except the stupid fat guy who sucks in everything his ever in. If this film was based on campus or had a phase it would’ve been far more acceptable. But it’s one huge ever lasting frat party where even the frat captains would be like, well that never happens here. But looks cool!

"Script is Laughable"

I think the Academy of Motion Pictures would disagree with you as this was nominated for best adaptive script.

"Every Cliche Imaginable"

I would disagree as countless have reviewed the film and found it unique and full of unexpected twists and turns.

"Nothing redeeming or realistic. Everything is way over the top and implausible."

As this was based on a true story and Belford himself said it was actually on the tamer side of what actually happened I'd say you're wrong.

"The dialog is for adolescents who think you actually talk like this in the real world"

Many people and cultures speak like this, especially those who work in fast high stress positions such as wall street or police.

"There was nothing complex or engaging on any of these characters."

These are quite possibly the most engaging and complex characters brought to screen. Among many other example you take Belford himself who started out as a married man trying to work a honest job and earn a living. He's then thrust into a world of fast money, high stress, mass drug use, party lifestyle and he gradually changes to fit this new environment. By the end he's not even close to the same person. That alone is more interesting and engaging than most movie or tv garbage.

"Stupid fat guy who sucks in everything his ever in"

Are you addressing award winning and critically acclaimed Jonah Hill? Who make more in a week than most do in a year due to his consistent work as a successful actor, director, writer, and producer?

"But it’s one huge ever lasting frat party where even the frat captains would be like, well that never happens here. But looks cool!"

What's your point? Some People's lives playout more like a frat party than anything else.

My point is the same as my first post. You can't just spout your opinions into reality without any substantial backing or evidence to support them.
