This Is A Kid's Movie.

I got thought that the movie's Target audience was Teenagers going through high school (who find most things funny), or College students going through the social, and heavy party scene's, who are yet to experience much in life.

I was annoyed on how much the movie was trying to present sex and drugs as something humerus, and didnt let go of that concept through to whole movie.

I did find the story entertaining, and the movie had its moment's when I smiled. But for a Martin Scorsese and Di Caprio movie, I found it too childish; Sex is what I laughed at when I was 12 or 13.

The Character of Di Caprio himself, had little genuine goodness in his heart, apart from the serious moments towards the end with his daughter. But as a whole, I couldn't relate to anything at all regarding his character; I found him to be totally self-indulgent, and a real pig towards woman. I was waiting for something redeeming to unearth itself, something more human and realistic, but found myself really wishing the FBI agent would win the battle and lock him up.

I could have looked past the concept, if the concept let up a little, and if I found a leading character to support, but I couldn't find one.

As a 30 year old, I don't consider myself old at all, but I probably would have enjoyed this more ten years ago. I gave the movie a 6.5/10, for the acting, and story telling. I wouldn't expect anything less from the people involved, but I wont be watching this a second time.

I'm sorry to offend those who like this movie, but It's just how I feel.

People sharing opinions on a message board? Ugh I hate when that happens. It's as though they believe it's not about discussing who has the biggest dick or something. What a bunch of squares right bro? Wanna cuddle in the showers after the game? No homo

No offense taken, non given...

But what KID would truly understand this film? I think adults take more pleasure (And Pain) knowing that people's Financial Futures were in the Hands of these Mad Men. It also taps into the idea that many people(Even ones who SWEAR they're Bernie Sanders fans and would NEVER do such a thing) would 100%, Absolutely take the Cash. They'd take the LIFE and we damn well know it. It's a sharp film and I think the messages are there

I agree with the points you make. I didnt think about it in the same light, from my own frustrations about this movie.

However, my frustrations still remain.

The movie is still trying to sell its concept at the forefront. Underneath is the depth your talking about.

I have never found any fulfilment in sex or money myself. It wears of very quickly, so I would not like to work in such a place, I would happily be the FBI agent, and go home to my family every night. But each to his own!

A kid may not get it all, I agree with that.

Wow, just wow!! How can one not find fullfillment with sex and money? In regards to sex, you either havent met the right person or your doing something very wrong!!! One might not get any long term fullfillment having one nighters night after night but having sex with someone you are truly atrracted too and are in love with is one of the most fullfilling things life has to offer. I honestly feel sorry for someone that has never expereinced sex and intamcy at that level. You have no idea what your missing. I imagine that would kind of like being stuck in high school at a sexual level, with it never really meaning anything beyond seeking short term pleasure. You might get a little better at it as time goes on, but emotionally its about the same thing. Well, I honestly hope that eventually someone will change your mind on that one as with the right person, it can be one of the most fullfilling things life has to offer. I will agree that sex for the sake of sex, that being sex without having any real feelings for the person your doing it with, is pretty meaningless. Again, its just short term pleasure seeking, but it becomes something completely different with the right person.

As for the money....well, considering one can do whatever activity or hobby they truly find fullfilling when they have a lot of money,.....well, I just don't understand that comment at all. Not to mention, all the good things one could do with money if they so choose. For example, my family is filled with HUGE animal lovers. Almost everyone in my family gives to various animal charities. I myself give around $1500 a year to Torre Argentina Cat Sanctuary, which is located in Rome, and the Exotic Feline Cat Sanctuary, which is located in Indiana (so basically, around $750 each). If anyone in my family ever won the lotto or came into a large sum of money somehow, one of the first things we would do is open up animal shelters and do everything we could to help animals in need. We always talk about it when the lotto starts to get really large. The amount of fullfillment that I would get from something like that literally would be indescribable. I could stop working and devote all of my time to the things that truly matter to me.

I could buy small lots of land in some of the best sky viewing sites around the world, buy extremely high quality telescopes with imaging equipment and exterior housings, and have them all digitally linked to my home. I could literally do astrophotography from any of those locations from the comfort of my own home. Now that would be amazing!! Since I'm a photographer and one of my favorite things is traveling to new locations and shooting pictures, I would travel extensively, to all the places I have always wanted to photograph. Money itself isn't fulfilling, but the things you can do with money can be extremely fulfilling. You just have to be passionate about something. I guess its all how you spend it. If you waste it on meaningless crap and meaningless endeavors, then its going to feel pretty meaningless in the end. On the other hand, you invest that money into meaningful causes or activites that your passionate about and money can be extremely fullfilling.

Still Shooting With Film!

Asexuality is a thing. And some people see having money only as a negative thing, something personally I can only see as a good thing.

reply

No way. The way I see it, most adults don't get that movie.

reply

You typed that much just to say you don't like the movie?

I think the film actually made these repulsive jerks out to be what they are. I didn't think it made light of anything. Sometimes I laughed at the same time as being utterly appalled. Scorsese is so great a director, so visual and detailed that he captured the way it was, while also exposing them for the amoral a-holes they are...

I agree the movie was much more of a comedy then expected. I can see why young people like it. The Sex, drugs & *beep* this *beep* that... every thing is turned up to 11 to the point it's ridiculous. Don't expect a move like Goodfellas or Casino. This is more like an Adam Sandler film.

reply

LOL! After watching The Wolf of Wall Street for the first time, Adam Sandler wasn't really the first comparison I could think of.

reply

It most definitely has the style of Goodfellas and Casino. It just adds the element of comedy.

reply

Kids movies are a lot stupider and without half the values.

reply

You think the F-Bomb has values? Now that is childish thinking.

I am a gore watching freak!!!

If it don't have it, it isn't worth the watch.

You're missing the entire point of the film by saying there was too much foul language, sexual content, and drug use. That's the whole point; one of the film's main themes is excess. That also sums up that entire decade (the 80s) in a nutshell; you either went big, or you went home! I think the film encapsulated this to a tee! While you're entitled to your own opinion, you're points that you've presented before make you seem ignorant, as if you missed the entire point of the film! It's okay to not like the film, but at least have a valid point!

Secondly, this is in NO way a kid's film. What parent in their right mind would allow a child to see a movie where a man smuggles drugs on a plane using his anus, a man snorts cocaine out of a woman's cleavage, and then snorts it into her anus, sexual manipulation, O.D-ing on drugs, et cetera. What I'm saying is no, this isn't meant for children, unfortunately!
