<< Agree. Premise is set up very nicely in Act I, but the hunt and its resolution, as well as the back story, in Acts II & III, are very dissapointing. >>
Regardless of that, while I'm not a fan of the movie and there's lots to pick on, there were things in it I did like.
I could watch Cate Blanchett in practically anything, and she's a good villainess. Her reactions were funny: like, when she's staring at Hanna going berserk for the first time and is just mouthing, "Oh MY!"
And the film looked good, at least. It had a stylish aura.
But it's just so disheartening when you think of the number of smart and talented people who must have worked on this film for years, in different capacities, and none of them said, "You know, there's things MISSING here..."
For me, the most interesting things were those left (basically) unexplained. What was that experiment like? Is Marissa the girl's mother, somehow, and if not, how does this (presumably) childless executive of a certain age feel about shooting a child? What would it actually be like to walk on a crowded street and into cosmopolitan buildings if you'd never seen either? Did anyone feel anything hunting down and killing the kids from the failed experiment? What's with those green shoes...and why does that guy live in that fairytale themed house?
