Get pregnant
Ride horses
Develop metallurgical skills sufficient to make helmets
Plan coordinated attacks,
Etc…

But they can only communicate with monosyllabic howls?

Zombies are a LOT more fun when their skills are limited to shambling (or running) and biting.
