Distracted by time shifts. .

I loved this film, but had trouble with the back and forth time shifts. . ..before the war, during, and after. There was only one instance where the film indicated that there was a time shift. The vacation sequences were obviously after the war, but I didn't get the other sequences, flashbacks, etc.
