why do they say 'frak' instead of *beep*
why do they say "frak" instead of *beep*
shareSeriously? You can't say f-ck on American television. Much of the crew are younger people, an age group that tends to favor colorful language, on top of which their high-stress lifestyle is conducive to dropping quite a few more f-bombs than your average civilians.
If you've ever paid attention to the ways most other television series and censorings of movies for TV work around the dirtier profanities, it sounds really awkward and silly. "Frak" might also seem silly at first, but it's easy to get accustomed to after a few episodes, and compared to the usual cringeworthy work-arounds in the rest of TV, it's something I enjoy and appreciate about BSG.
"Godd-mn" usually doesn't fly either, but the humans of BSG are polytheistic so "godsd-mn" is a clever way to sneak past the censors.
"Come on, pelican!"
Seriously? You can't say f-ck on American television.
To further what e-french-pr0n said frak is also used as a sort of homage to the original BSG where they used Frack (notice the different spelling) as a mild cuss word
---We will rule over all this land and we will call it... This Land.---
makes me laugh tho, im sure parents arent happy with kids running round screamin "frakk off" and "mother frakker" lol
shareIf you want to get technical they can show nudity and swear on cable but don't not because of the FCC but because advertisers will drop support from the show because they stay sway from anything that might upset whack job socio conservatives (not a political statement BTW)
