Entertaining, but not for everyone

I watched this movie on Netflix, "Watch Instantly". I just picked the movie to try out the Netflix streaming video service and ended up watching the whole thing. Jimmy Tsai was really very funny. His quick dialog seemed very natural for him, as though there was some improvisation in there. Sure, the plot was as simple and cliched as they get, but Tsai made me want to keep watching it. Simple humor.

There is quite a bit of Chinese with English subtitles in it, and alot of stereotyping. I watched it with my sons who are half Chinese and who understood alot of the dialog and related to the culture. They thought it was funnier than I did. So I think that the Chinese American audience will like this movie more than others.

dude, i just watched it on netflix! ^5. but yeah, anyway, i figured it probably wouldn't be for everyone. it's sort of quirky and you probably need to be asian to relate to some of the jokes or situations. I'm korean but didn't mind the subtitles. but I love foreign language flicks, so it's never an issue for me anyway. just glad that it was actually pretty funny since it actually looked lame and the name was a turn off.

I'm as white as they come and I got all of the jokes. I know some people won't understand or be put off by Christopher's street mentality, but I found the whole thing hilarious and even charming at points, especially when he's dealing with the kids. The whole "my ninja" thing was a great classy way of cleaning up the other, more crass equivalent out there.
The other thing I really dug is how whenever anyone let out a 4-letter word they covered it up with a basketball or ping pong noise. Hilarious-- and again, classy.
