This looks so lame...

It reminds me of one of the worst episodes of 'Sex and the City' (a woman's right to shoes). I love SITC but this episode stunk and to loosely base an entire movie around this concept is lame.

Hopefully the previews are just showing the worst parts!

I have to agree. It's an idiotic concept for a movie. There was an episode of "Family Guy" that shows some of the characters watching what appears to be a sitcom on Lifetime. At the end, we hear the tagline "Lifetime, television for idiots." I personally love several of the shows and movies on Lifetime, but every time I see the promo for this "I me wed" movie, I think of that episode of "Family Guy." Maybe there's more to this movie than the promo and title suggest, but I won't be watching it to find out.

I have seen that Family Guy episode!!! Where it's a REALLY lame (very Lifetime) sitcom that's 'for and about women' one of the two women says I'm seeing two guys at once...Ben & Jerry and the laughtrack roars.

I don't really watch much actual Lifetime Originals (tv shows or movies) but I see a lot of the commercials for them in the mornings. I work from home and usually have Lifetime on in the BG...they have the best weekday morning TV IMO.

The last Lifetime production I remember watching was that Human Trafficking with Donald Sutherland and even he couldn't save that dud. I wonder what debt he was paying back to appear in that stinker.

I also work from home and have Lifetime on in the background in the morning. Don't care what anyone says about "The Nanny," it still cracks me up and those "Golden Girls" will be funny forever. Like you, I don't really watch much of the Lifetime original programming, but I have been watching "Army Wives." Still didn't watch this "I Me Wed" movie though.

I just saw a promo for this movie and I agree. The concept of marrying oneself isn't new, and it's been done elsewhere--in media and real life. "Kissing Jessica Stein" is about the only one I know that put anything resembling any kind of originality into the concept.

I read the synopsis for it here, and it sounds so utterly stupid that if I watched more than one minute of this film, my brain would turn to oatmeal.

With all the great stories about unmarried women out there, why would a studio choose this one to produce?

reply

When I watched the promo for this it also reminded me of that Sex in the city episode. Except this movie looks really lame and she will probalby end up with a guy in the end anyways.

Pray for Baby Kaleb Schwade!!!

When I saw this preview, it reminded me of the Captain Crunch commercial where the kid decides to marry his cereal.

reply

LOL!!! I have never seen this CC commercial but it made me laugh out loud reading it! Speaking of 'why don't you marry it', my 3YO has gotten into Pee Wee's Playhouse (via the DVDs) and says it occasionally when someone around him says they love something...funny!

There are certainly alot of people who are quick to judge this movie...and surprisingly enough, they are people who haven't even WATCHED the movie.

reply

Lame. Watchable only because of Durance.

I may have been bifurcated, but I still have feelings.

ok, the concept wasn't rocket science, nor was it Oscar-worthy, but I thoroughly enjoyed it for the cute, fluffy afternoon popcorn movie it was! Might even watch it again (I missed the first 30 minutes) on a rainy afternoon.
