7/7

7/7 apparently was a deliberate act of suicide by four young men who felt that the UK's actions in Iraq and Afghanistan merited the deaths of UK citizens ( including Muslims) going about their daily business in the city of london as a recompense to the killing of muslims in said countries.

The killing commited by the 7/7 muslims was seen as heinous, unfair and disgusting , especially in it's desire to target the general populace.
The consequences of this action has seen the beginnings of a police state, and a backlash against the general moslem population arguably not too dissimilar from the jews in early 1930's germany.

The UK government must count itself very lucky, It has a crystal clear easily understood viewpoint that people that commit these kind of atrocities are warped, and cannot point to our actions in other countries as any kind of justification for the deliberate targetting of innocents.

What If's

What if instead of the 7/7 bombers attacking the city and it's populace,
they'd have gone for what the IRA used to call legitimate targets.
The Chelsea Barracks , Sandhurst Academy, Portsmouth Naval Base etc.

What kind of copycat strikes could have occured from other disaffected moslems that while vehemently disagreeing with the UK's actions , ended up disgusted with 7/7 and it's casual death of civilians.

How lucky were we , was it actuallly luck?
