This movie was my personal favorite of the movies I caught at the festival (FLIFF). It was just... so good. The filmmakers are terrific folk. I'm glad I got the chance to meet them and to see their movie. If Suspension comes to your town, it is a MUST-SEE.

Congrats guys! You rock!!

Just because it wins an award, doesn't necessarily mean it's a real good movie or just not for everyone's taste. I haven't seen it yet, so I thought to look on IMDB, what I always do, before buying/renting/downloading a movie. It's just a shame that a lot of people give a movie too high or a too lower rating. Movies are almost never a 10 or a 1, but many people give it anyway, to get it closer to there own rating, sadly so, it's difficult to get a fair sense of what the movie really is worth, but if you read it all, you learn to read between the lines and weed out the nonsense, not that yours is btw. But you didn't convince me neither. I think it's probebly worth a 6 or so, from what I've seen and read, see if I'm close......

I've seen the movie and liked it a lot.
It can be a pretty slow film. I liked the way the main character would try and fix things by freezing time but would usually just make things work.

Basically if you like the slower indie flicks and appreciate a sci-fi twist then see it. If you're after clever funny sharp dialogue you'll be disappointed.

Hello K,

i'm sorry i'm going to refute your post. just because a movie gets an award - doesn't mean that it's a masterpiece. i really felt it was one of the most poorly done movies i ever saw - indie or otherwise. i'm pasting my review (imdb) here cuz i dont want to repeat myself. but read it if you Really like the movie.
: here goes :

The last time i saw a movie as terrible as this was when i was in college, dedicatedly watching movies from the IMDb.com bottom 100 list. it was a lot of fun. so was Suspension. my friend and i were laughing throughout, rewinding scenes and lines and pausing to relax our aching bellies. the humour sadly wasn't intended. that's how trashy it is.

the plot is worthy of a 10 minute film at best. that's how long it holds. it's nonsensical to stretch it over 98 minutes. the story just goes nowhere. it doesn't explain how this power comes to reside in that cheapo camcorder. the premises are very thin, and fail to convince throughout. anyway no point bitching anymore about the story. it just sucks.

the performances. the leading man, if he is an actor at all, is at his worst. he has no concept of what acting for film is. he has no concept of cueing, of pace and of conviction. throughout the movie his mouth hangs open like an ape on amphetamine. how the blazes did he get cast in this one? the girl, well she doesn't have much to do. and still disappoints. but to her credit she is better than the man.

i think the film could've been cut shorter. the story drags on predictably and repititively, and there is no dramatic arc whatsoever.

it's just very hard to believe a word of what most of the people in the film say or do.

and finally the best part of the film is the frozen frames. though there's much of it already seen over time - from clock stoppers to heroes. but it's well done.
