Does Tim die?

I've been reading the book, and I just finished it today. In the end of the book, Tim is fine and stays married with Savannah. I decided to watch the movie tonight.

In the end of the movie, when Savannah is reading the letter, she says something about "final moments" with Tim making me think he died. During the reading of her letter, Tim was at this party doing just fine. The "final moments" convinced me that he died.

I've seen the movie a few times already, and I had it on DVD for a while. But I always forget that little reference. Did Time die somehow?
