B+W theatrical release, COLOUR DVD RELEASE???

Ok I read all that jazz about the On Demand and cable versions being in colour, but the DVD version too? Seriously? I just received the copy I ordered online (where the site I ordered it from said it was B&W) but low and behold the version I got was colour.....I didn't even think it would be an issue. The movie was made in black and white. It was promoted in trailers in black and white. It is BETTER in black and white. How did the dvd end up in colour? Can someone please explain this to me? Also does anyone know if there will be a b&w north american dvd release?

It's a sad reality that the black and white version is currently not going to be released in the U.S. The color version will be out for retail in February.

The UK has a great black and white DVD they released that is chalked full of special features and has a commentary track, the only one with a commentary. Get it here:

In Greece they recently put out a gorgeous black and white DVD collectors edition in a tin case with amazing menus and behind the scenes. It is incredibly wonderful. In Spain the DVD plan is chalked full of extras as well to be release in a few months. It's still in theaters there now.

In the U.S. the retail version sounds like it will be in color in February, however. I know the filmmakers are seeing if the company will release a black and white version in the U.S. For now, if you don't mind region 2 and want it to look like it is supposed to (black and white and properly film effected like we saw it in the theaters), you can buy the DVD online from the UK or subtitled in Greece.

It doesn't matter whether there's colour or not, this movie is ridiculously average and downright amateurish. I don't understand for the life of me how it's garnered this much attention... unless, of course, the fact it WAS in black and white suckered in a bunch of critics.

Ugh.

...Couldn't one just turn the color off on the TV set and watch it in black and white?

NO!

Marty: Romeo and Juliet, the dyslexic version.

Why not? Clearly, the film was shot in colour, and the producers turned it off when they printed the film for the cinema. It doesn't seem like such a stretch to do the same thing with the controls on the TV.
