I really hate this kind of marketing scheme

I've seen this before, on the IMDB page for a movie called Daymaker. Basically what happens is that someone involved in the production of the movie was hired to create new user accounts and post on the message board to generate interest for a movie that nobody cares about. Check the IMDB history for all of the users who posted positive things about this movie. They've never posted about anything else.

I really hate this kind of marketing scheme as well...and I directed this film.

I can say without hesitation, that nobody was "hired" to post the things that ended up out here. But yes...unbeknownst to me, there was a well-intentioned person within our crew that encouraged a few people to post a few nice things about KP (people who actually HAD seen the film, though). As we all know, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Anyhow, once I found out about it, we made sure that nobody else posted anything else on the IMDB boards or any other place on the web. We hope that the film will be judged on its own merits, and not by the well-intentioned, but ill-advised, postings of a few people who thought they were helping the filmmakers out.
