What is the deal with Narutos obsession with Sasuke?

Its beyond annoying. I just finished the Fourth Shinobi War Countdown Arc and hes willing to die for that sh!t? *beep* really?! He had a freaking panic attack over him? I remember watching the original Naruto and I didnt see that many instances where I could say that Naruto and Sasuke seemed like such great friends. This obsession came out of nowhere imo.

It might not seem much to some of us, but to Naruto it means a great deal. Remember this kid grew up alone with no family, friends, and plenty of ostracizing from the village. This has caused him to never take for granted any acts/words of kindness or respect, no matter how small. Team 7 was the first time Naruto had comrades, and Sasuke's rivalry (showing the person acknowledged him) and taking a bullet for him (in the battle with Haku) means a lot for that kid. To some of us, such moments are like a simple drop of water, with the reaction being 'That's it? Seriously?' To Naruto, that simple drop of water is an ocean's tidal wave. To him it's serious. To him that's IT.

Why the obsession?Well they need a plot right?I mean it might be a stupid one with no actual reason to back it up but something must run the series ^^

I personally never really liked Sasuke.

I once viewed him as a jerk during my first viewings of the Retrieval Arc to the Kage Summit, but reading the Fourth Ninja War has made me warmer to him. I'm mostly positive to him in the post-series material.

I think its just a testament to his personality.

*spoilers*

They explain it at some point that the 2 brothers one of them ALWAYS wanted to cooperate with others and thats how he got his strength, The other brother was all about being alone and doing things solo not relying on his comrades. Naruto knew what it was like to be alone and be in darkness only feeling hate from others, He wouldn't want that for anyone... its like having a childhood friend turn to drugs and alcohol, you would experience a bit of pain thinking about how far you two drifted apart. With that being said i don't like sasukes character, i think hes really really stubborn and short sided.
