I loved the Dad in this movie...

can't really pinpoint why. The adorable pancakes were a nice touch for his character.

Brian Kerwin. Yeah, he is a neat actor. I first saw him in Murphy's Romance and he was good in it.

I think Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain was the first film I saw him in. Wow, that takes me back!

I actually thought he was a bit of a dumbass in this movie. What father would give his youngest daughter his wife's wedding dress in front of the eldest daughter (who practically RAISED the younger one) and say, "your mother would have wanted you to wear this"...that was a total slap in the face to Jane, who by tradition as the oldest child should have been given that dress! Maybe I am just a total Tess hater, but that just irked me. The actor reminds me of Roseanne. I remember he played Jackie's boyfriend in several episodes!

I totally agree with you WesternEyes05. In general The father and the sister were insensitive and dismissive of the sister.

Oh well.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

I must agree with WesternEyes on this one too. I felt the father was an idiot and expected his eldest daughter to just accept that he handed over her rite to the obnoxious daughter who didn't even like it in the first place. Jane should have said something but the father saying, "you're mother would've wanted you to have it," was a total slap in the face. What was he thinking? Nothing because he's an idiot.
