Every day movies disapper (or kick out) from Top250 from higher places !

A Wednesday (2008) dissapper from Top187
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1280558/?ref_=rvi_tt

Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003) dissappera from Top190
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374887/?ref_=rvi_tt

The Bandit (1996) dissappear from Top162
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116231/?ref_=rvi_tt

Rang De Basanti (2006) dissappear from Top170
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405508/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Like Stars on Earth (2007) dissappear from Top115
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0986264/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Today was kick out movie Like Stars on Earth that was on Top250 and a good movie ...i think that IMDB deliberately kick out specific movies out of top250 , i refuse to belive that imdb change the regular voters every day all week ... if was changed once all that movies was suppose to dissapper all of once in a single day, not in every day one movie ...that not make any sense ...IMDB KICK movies out deliberately . SAD BUT TRUE !!!

Great news tbh
We all know indians overrate their movies
Some credibility back to the top 250

reply

Rang De Basanti and Like Stars On Earth deserved to be there. Happy 'bout the others though!

reply

They do ovverrate, mostly with certain directors (Nolan, Tarantino, Fincher) and genres (Superheroes, Animation) but it is not as bad, and still most of the american movies in the top 250 are universally praised. Unlike Indian movies like this one that are only liked by Indians.

reply

No you're wrong, these movies aren't only liked by Indians. For example this movie and "3 Idiots" are very popular in Russia and China. Here is a link to the russian equivalent of IMDB of this movie http://www.kinopoisk.ru/film/280562/ and to the Chinese one http://movie.douban.com/subject/2363506/. As you can see it is at number 137 on their top250 list, which by the way is only in Russian script, which means that hardly any indians can vote on that site. And even if they do their vote won't count, because you have to be a regular user, which is practically impossible (for foreigners), since on that site to become a regular user you have to review movies (in Russian) and rate a lot of movies as well. And the same goes for the Chinese site. There this movie has a score of 8.8 and is at 167th place ("3 Idiots" is at 12th place with over 500.000 votes).

So you can see it is equally highly rated even with no Indian voters.

and that's the reason that movie wasnt dropped off the imdb top 250 list. Unlike the other ones that were mentioned in these thread. so, bad example.

reply

"3 Idiots" wasn't, but "Like Stars on Earth" was dropped. My post referred to both movies (but mainly this movie. The links I provided refer to this movie).
And, who knows, maybe they will take down "3 Idiots" next.
You shouldn't forget that IMDB is an American site (and in English), and therefore American movies are favored, since 30% of the voters are American (by comparison USA has 4.4% of World Population). And not only by the voters, also, as you can see, by the company, by deliberately taking down foreign (yeah mostly Indian) movies, because most Americans don't like it to see it on the top 250 list. If it were a truly International site, with a possibility to change to any language, movies from other countries like China, South Korea, Japan, India etc. would have much more recognition, and American ones much less.

reply

Ok, I got it wrong, sorry.

I Agree genereally with what you say, but I still think that Indians give their movies extremely high ratings, and it happens with many of their movies not just the ones that have a chance to top250. And I think americans that really love films have nothing against foreign films, they dont mind the Italian westerns, the Kurosawa movies, and some good korean, Iranian and many french films to be in the top 250. And if this page were more international we would have just more bad movies from China and South Korea in the top.

Obviously they tweaked their algorithm.

Perhaps the votes from people who vote films from their own country are now given less weight. Which is apparently working. Thankfully.
