Colonel Stauffenberg's injuries

Any idea on why Stauffenberg wasn't medically discharged after receiving injuries resulting in the loss of his eye, hand and several of his fingers? One would assume he wouldn't have been fit to carry out his duties.

I think at that time if you proved you are experienced it doesn't matter you lost your hand or leg, you still can be useful for army, not in direct fight but you can plan strategy or do office work. There are plenty examples of injured soldiers who continued to serve. Plus especially in Germany at this time they were lacking manpower and taking younger and younger soldiers to compensate for loss.
