It's explained at the end of the film before the closing credits:
Nina von Stauffenberg and her children survived the war.
She died April 2, 2006.
They could've easily been executed because of Stauffenberg's actions. That's what people don't get when they criticize Nazis. The SS were the real villains. If you don't do what they say, everyone in your family will pay dearly. What do you do? Sacrifice your loved ones for the good of some strangers? That's the position every German soldier under Hitler and his SS were in.
