So did she have it??
So did Rachel have aids? It was never made clear. Also this movie was stupid.

shareYea, it's assumed that she did since her doctor said at the end that he had some bad news, it wouldn't be bad news to her if she didn't have it
shareYes, she had it. What possible reason would the doctor have for starting the conversation with: "Rachel, I am afraid that I have some bad news", if she hadn't contracted the disease.
And I disagree with you wholeheartedly. I watched the film today and I found it very provocative.
That's my 2 cents.

Look at the title "Girl Positive" lol
shareI highly doubt they'd make a movie that raises awareness about HIV/AIDS only to have it end with the girl being HIV negative. What point would that be saying? Just because you sleep with someone who tests positive doesn't necessarily mean you will? I can't imagine that's the point they wanted to make.
Why was the movie stupid?
exactly. I saw the movie today and I thought that if she didn't have it at the end, then there would be no point in making this movie in the first place. actually, it felt more like a documentary to me. the ending was cruel but so is HIV. people should realize that you CAN get it even if you didn't use protection ONCE.

They probably tried to make some sort of schrödingers cat situation to prove a point. As long as you take risks and don't get tested, you're both infected and not infected at the same time...
shareShe didn't have AIDS, she was HIV positive. They're not the same thing. You get the syndrome from the virus, but you can have the virus without having developed AIDS. Acquired immune deficiency syndrome means your immune system is crashing because of the negative effects of having the HIV virus.
I think your opinion of the movie being stupid is because you didn't get it. You should get informed.
The title of the movie was "Girl, Positive"
You really couldn't conclude whether or not she was HIV positive from the title alone, the ending just solidifies the title of the movie. I don't think that I even needed to watch the film to conclude the results of her HIV test.
Also, if you would have watched the film you would be a little more educated on both the difference between HIV and AIDs as well as the facts surrounding both. I thought the movie was very informative and spread a very important message, and for Lifetime the quality was impressive as well.
But to answer your question, if the title "Girl, Positive" was misleading, yes the girl in the film was in fact, positive for HIV.
