she was offered money by the employee of the man she had sex with but she refused to take the money, she could have borrowed money from him in desperate time and returned later after getting a job somewhere, but she chose to try to get a job in exchange for her body for which she had no expertise and wouldnt have lasted long, but she decided to go to bed for the job where the outcome would have been the same the man was offering, money. borrowing money was shameful for her but selling body wasnt.
after having performed the act she was adamant for the job and declined the cash again, which is what she would be earning through the job. so i think she didnt refuse the money in shock of losing honour and cultural values, but she wanted to have sex after getting tired being virgin and having been given go ahead by mother and having the excuse, underwent it.
