Pathetic Movie [A women needs to know when to ask for help :)]

It was a worst ever choice by the actors. Direction+writing was as if they themselves did not pass 10th class.
My opinion : they've forgotten the basic principle - A women needs to know when to ask for help....a family needs to know as well :)

as a serious fan of almost all of the cast, i'd have to agree. the film did too much to show the potential and shelters for the characters (the friends, the further job offers, even the unpleasant uncle) as viable alternatives and the second half with Konkona highlighted just how far women can go without selling themselves, that their only commodity is not sex, which was at odds with the message of rani's character, who was unable even to smile after 3 hours of wishing for exactly what she gets, a happy home, family and an amazingly perfect guy, she still looks droopy in the mirror. for god's sake crack a smile girl, it's the end of the show.

brilliant actors, good performances, stand out from jaya and kunal, right notes from abhi and of course ranz, but where did it all go so wrong?

too long, too predictable and too clichéd, all the good points, the cinematography and the drama are drowned in the excess of sentiment this film smothers its audience with

Why do directors want to shoot the same story all over again? We all have seen good and bad films where a woman has no other way than to sell herself to make money. Then what's so special about LCMD? One good thing would be the character of Konkona. A character who truly understands the sacrifices made for the family by a woman is rare.

For once, I had wished the story was little different. For example, Rani refusing to sell herself and surviving the hard time and Konkona due to lack of money coming to Mumbai and about to follow the same path. Then how Rani fights the same battle for her sister...etc...etc...But then movie wouldnt be LAGA CHUNRI ME DAAG...it would be NAHI LAGNE DIYA CHUNRI ME DAAG..lol

I strongly agree with views why such an old story and why selling of body is the only option???? The story writer can add some struggle to get out of such situation and stand again and ask the same people who asked to sell her body.

Assuming that the direction and writing is completely goofed up, a critic like me is able to raise the following questions for our dear audience:

1)Why the hell in a year like "2007" a Bollywood writer be inspired to write such a pathetic story...is there someone seriously thinking to break the loop of "sell what sells" and "buy what is being sold", for Bollywood audience - including the NRIs paying in dollars??

2)Are't Konkona and Jaya Bhachhan themselves is a kind of representation of "escorts"? Good and talented actresses who can choose better films than this one - or just choose a vacation - why they're doing it still for the sake of money? Anupam Kher is a bigger escort than them probably, in that sense.

3)How does one define poverty and is it required to sell your body to get over it? well Mr. Sarkar & my dear audience,

*Some people die out of hunger in some unknown dark corners of the world - some of them don't sell their bodies and some of them don't even get to - we don't even see them.

*Some people think that they're poor because they don't have a place to stay and educate their kids - this is what we want to see and be happy that we're not one of them.

*Some people think that they're poor because they don't have enough money to become a top-paying Bollywood actor, and they can't afford a condo in TriBeCa or Santa Fe - we don't see them either.

And Dear Mr. Pradeep Sarkar -
Thanks for the only well-done scene in the movie is the first scene at Banganga between Konkona and Rani.

However, a critic like me would recommend watching following scenes, Mr.Sarkar -
1)To know what does it mean to sell one's body - go and watch a scene of very Konkona with Vinay Apte in Traffic signal
2)To know what happens to those who decide to sell their body - go and watch a scene of Tabu's teenage girl dancing in Chandani Bar
3)To know why they sell - go and watch in scene of Leo hanging around in Sierra Leone and promises 'next time' in Blood Diamond, and -
4)To know why they buy - go and watch in scene of Jake Gyllenhaal crossing Mexico border in Brokeback Mountain.

So the bottom line is - as long as there are buyers, there will be sellers, and there will be buyers as long as we're talking about humans. The only difference one can make is to try to be a better human, and try to help others being better humans as well. That's why some human once upon a time wrote Hanuman Chaleesa.

So next time, better try to think twice about 'what best possible you can write' before writing such a piece of *beep*

i totally agree with little. it so easy for everyone to sit on their computers and laptops in their nice comfortable house talking about a woman should know when to ask for help.

Ask for what????

look at facts its plain and simple forget this is a movie and review rani as a real person in that situation or put urself in that position.

1)Quit School before finishing studies so you can help your family.

2)No bread winner in the house.

3)A Uncle and Cousin taking ur family to court so they can have u evicted from the house.

4)A father who has a heart condition.

5)A mother struggling to cope financially under the demands of their financial situation and ever increasing hospital bills for her husband.

6)Then on top of that rani moving away from her family to the big city to try and make some money she in no terms is shown the door in nearly everything she trys or is not hired because her lack of education. offered a one night stand by a company owner who will give her a job if she sleeps with him one night.

7)Just as she trys to decide what to do she gets an alarming phone call from her mother that her father is in hospital and she needs to do whatever it takes to make money and sent it back home so they can help their father to recover. she goes through with the one night stand only to be told that she is not hired because of her education downfall.

8)She is mentally and physically scarred what else she gonna do continue to look for a job while her father is struggling with his bad health.

let see how many people that bashed the charcter in this movie go through all that and not turn to the first opportuity they get to making some money. easy making comments on other people when ur not in that same situation urself.
