Similar Animes????

This anime is tied together with Berserk as one of the best animes i've ever seen and the best anime with medieval style tied with Berserk.

Now I wonder are there any more animes I've missed with medieval style? and then I do not mean samurai or asian, I mean this european style of medieval.
Berserk was great and it's very similar to Claymore, knights, castles, demons, evil and ofc the story has to be good and it must be a mature anime, no comedy and no childish ones, it's blood and gore and mature if you know what I mean. Please list ones worth seeing :)

I'm looking for the same thing, as I found Claymore in an attempt to discover more animes like Berserk, which is at number 1 for me. I'm not big into animes with mechs, machine guns, or samurai, so it's a tough search. Although I haven't tried them yet, some potentials include: Record of Lodoss War, Vision Of Escaflowne, Sengoku Basara, Rurouni Kenshin: Wandering Samurai (despite the title it doesn't seem strictly a samurai theme), Scrapped Princess, Utawarerumono, and Avatar the Last Airbender.
Also, although not medieval, I've heard good things about Wolf's Rain, Chrono Crusade, and Bleach.
You can find many trailers for these shows on this website, may give you an idea what they're like.
You're not going to find a whole lot of shows just like Berserk or Claymore though. There's only so much you can do with swords and demons in a medieval setting (that wouldn't blow). Oh and if I recall, Berserk only ended up being 10% supernatural stuff. It was almost entirely swords and blood and the story was great. So in my eyes, a samurai style anime isn't out of the question, I just haven't watched a good one yet.
On a completely different topic, a good mature anime to check out is the Aeon Flux series

thank you for mentioning berserk boxaren. Before i started watching claymore i was like "berserk with women....hmmm not sure about this but i'll give it a try." after 1 epsiode i was hooked.

i laugh because why do i keep falling in love with unfinished animes...lol. although they are redoing berserk so we have that to look forward to.

But i do hope they do another claymore. And i hope they go back to the political intrique like ...spoilers.....when the group of 4 speculate they are being given tough assignments to get weeded out of the organization.

Full Metal Alchemist is the only one I can think of at the moment.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0421357/

There is also a movie of it, too.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485323/

Another anime movie that is sorta medieval is Origins: Spirits of The Past. But it's based in the future.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0493247/

The rest of these animes are pretty good but not medieval lol:

Gunbuster 2 (5 episodes)
Ninja Scroll (movie)
Ghost In The Shell (movies part 1 and 2)
Read or Die (the 3 episode series)
Vampire Hunter D (movie)
Blood: The Last Vampire (movie)
Appleseed (the CGI movie)
Akira (movie)
Princess Mononoke (movie)
Macross Zero (5 episodes)
Spriggan (movie)
Animatrix

That's all I can think of for now.

Same dilemma as you, I really enjoyed Claymore up untill the finally :( and been trying to find similiar animes to watch.
Not going very well :(

But anyway when I started watching Claymore, it reminded me a lot of Vampire Hunter D and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust movies.

It has the same tall, recluse and silent protagonist as Claymore did but male.
He is also a human/monster and is struggling with it in much the same ways as Clare did.
There are a lot of great battles and weird monsters are introduced all the time.
However Hunter D is a hotch pot of medieval Europe, feudal Japan, cyber punk and apocalypse wastelands, somehow it works well but it's not strictly a European-ish setting as Claymore.

They're not identical, but they do share a lot of similarities.
Hope that helps.

this show isn't even remotely similar to berserk. i don't get why the two keep being compared. is it because there's bigass swords and lots of blood in a pseudo-medieval setting? that's a pretty weak basis for comparison. claymore has a typical shounen plot and execution -- 'monster of the week', 'power up' transformations brought on by emotional stress, ranks, 'fighting to protect', 'boss battles', an annoying male co-star, people shouting 'i will never forgive you' (lol), etc... it's pure shounen fare which puts it in a completely different genre from Berserk.

^Agreed on all counts.

The show has striking similarities to Ergo Proxy.

Fact: 31.5% of IMDb users wanted Avatar to win Best Picture.
Fact: 31.5% of IMDb users are idiots.
