Rocky

Three things.

1) Rocky? I wouldn't name even a dog Rocky.

2) His voice sounded exactly like a character from South Park. Once I made this realisation I was unable to take him seriously.

3) I found him very irritating. Why are so many teenage boys in anime whiney as *beep* I'm thinking also of Yuu from Noein and Shinji from Evangelion 1.0 You are (not) alone. I don't expect all male characters to be macho he-men but I find the inane wimpyness throughly off-putting.

You're not alone. That character was painful to listen to and watch. I get needing him to be sensitive and empathetic, but there are ways to go about it w/o making him into a sniveling 4 y/o at every stressful moment. I've noticed that is a recurring theme in anime too. Maybe there's something in Japanese culture that makes a whiny, sniveling crybaby a popular character for anime.

Not only that but the character always ended up finding his courage so he could end up in the middle of some big battle. Of course being a whiny, sniveling little crybaby his presence was used to put Clare in even more danger. The only time he was actually useful was when he listened to her and stayed in the basement of the church and ended up helping pull Clare back from fully awakening.

Thankfully I remembered the fast forward button towards the end and just skipped every scene he was in. Made viewing much more palatable. Still his presence made a series I'd rate an eight or nine into a six or seven.
