Last 4 episodes gay as hell

How long did it *beep* take to get to the end. jeeze and then they put some stupid light show on. Hardly any work done in the last episode, just a bunch of emo *beep* what a cop out. they could have kept the same story which was 10x better than that *beep* and stay with the same open ending. My ratings have gone down.

I feel you, man. Nowadays, everytime I refer to the Claymore series, I simply specify that I'm talking about the first 22 episdoes. Regarding the last four 'episodes', like you and many others probably, I just can't consider it a part of Claymore.

agreed they changed the storyline for absolutely no reason and now even if they attempt to do a second season they will be stuffed up due to all the storyline changes that deviate from the manga

reply

Preeching to the choir man. They completely ****ed the ending, especially with all that raki crap. Even berserk had a better ending, at least it went out in a blaze of blood and gore.

reply

Agreed, the ending was quite weak.

The episodes that are based on the manga are so much better.

Still a great series overall, what are the chances of a second series?

Ditto. The greatest overuse of flashbacks and repetitive music clips in the history of anime. Found myself skipping ahead the whole last several episodes. And it WAS a great show all the way up until then.....

Here are the specific problems with the ending to Claymore. A few of these have already been said by others and a few haven't.

- Overuse of flashbacks. I think I saw Theresa's head get cut off a solid two dozen times.
- Absurdly repetitive dialogue. "I will kill you!" "I promise you will die!" "I cannot forgive you!" "Theresa!" "I will never forgive you!" Clare said each of those lines about ten times. Oh and Priscilla said each of those exact same lines another ten times herself.
- Poor payoff. When a fight lasts two and a half episodes, you need to end it in some spectacular and creative way. The audience just has that as an emotional need. Seeing Clare use the quicksword to soften the impact of a hundred-foot drop, and then propel herself upwards to the exact height that Priscilla was, and yet somehow be moving in a downwards projectile when she gets there... well, it's creative, but it's also ridiculous and generally goofy.
- Most importantly: the ending is a ***complete tonal mismatch with the entire rest of the anime***. About five minutes before the fight ends, Clare says "if I don't kill Priscilla, everything I've done will all be for nothing." This is the mentality the audience is in, too. We have spent over 4 discs' worth of episodes waiting for Clare to get her revenge. The entire series has been anticipating this moment. And then she chooses not to do it??? The audience feels so completely deflated when the revenge is avoided. The director proves himself to be completely ignorant of the audience's expectations, their emotional states, and how to satisfy them.
- Overly sentimental. The dialogue at the denoument feels completely forced, unearned, and irritating.
- Unrealistically optimistic. All of the characters tell us how bright their futures are going to be now. About how they're just going to leave the corporation like it's no big deal. None of this is believable.
- Lastly, Rocky is a worthless doofus in the last several episodes who deserves none of the praise the series gives him.

My theory is that the entire writing staff changed about two-thirds of the way into the series, although in reality there is probably no excuse for the sharp downhill turn it all took.

vandwedge nailed perfectly what I was thinking! I was so built up, I thought the ending was gonna be epic!!! But what a let down! Never have I watched a worse ending in my entire animé history! And that stupid Raki ****hole boy, couldn't they just have killed him off? I mean, what was his purpose in the first place? To have a whining kid who'se crying all the time and screaming out with a girls' voice 'Culea Culea'. What did they think, honestly?!?!?!

read the manga from chapter 52, the story is 500 times better in the manga, its so good now that it makes the anime look like crap compared to the manga storyline.

its so *beep* epic :P alot has progressed and changed, even years of time. and its not only about revenge anymore, realy epic but i cant explain without spoilers.

if you dont read manga, START WITH CLAYMORE.

Claymore was my first manga too cause i hated the anime's last few eps, wasnt too sure about reading manga, but when i was reading and got the hold of it its the most badass thing ive read.

so id suggest read the manga : )

I don't think I wanted to admit it to myself because this anime had been SOO good. But I wasn't that impressed with the last few episodes either... I do like happy endings, but I didn't expect the series to end like that. I was hoping she would kill Priscilla. What the hell was the point of letting her live? She's just going to kill loads more innocent people. That Raki is a complete twat and his whiny voice was like nails on a chalkboard and made me wanna fight. The only good scene was Jean's death, that was really emotional. But aside from that the ending was pretty anticlimatic. But I think I will read the Manga then if that is much better.

On the other hand, Alyson Hannigan is pleasantly anorexic at the start of season 4 ...

I just wanted Claire to kick Raki outta the way and kill that Priscilla b!tch!

And I was like, wtf that's it? The anime's over already!? I really wanted to see the Abyss Feeders in the anime -_-

reply

ya i just have to repeat, cuz it happened to me. I loved the first 24 of Claymore, then the last couple just killed it for me. My rating lowered due to the conclusion of this anime. Gah,, and it is not like I was only gonna except one type of closure, but the story line and battle events were pretty unpredictable, so this ending was disappointing.

reply

I was thinking that the ending of the anime really didn't fit with what the series was portraying - I'm glad to know it was much different in the manga. The whole series up until those last episodes were amazing, and the end I said out-loud, "Since when did this turn into Dragonball Z?"

I didn't have a problem with episode 23-25. Most of those episodes had to do with the battle against the awakened and they were fine. It was only the final episode I had a problem with.

It would have been much better if Clare killed Priscilla, and then Raki jumps in along with the Claymore (the one Clare previously saved, forget her name) and they convince Clare to return to her normal self. The last episode needed some tweaks, but for the most part was ok.

I really don't understand the hate for episodes 23-25.
