Has anyone seen this film?

It's gotten pretty good reviews, hopefully he becomes a great director like his father, or better yet, surpass him! That would be great of course!

I saw this one in the Guadalajara Film Festival, it was GREAT, its all done with pictures and voice over, the pictures are from Cuaron´s family on vacations I suppose and it is so intresting and funny to see how he portrayed the american character and how she thinks about mexicans. Really cool flick, hope it gets a commercial realease but I really doubt it.

I attended a screening of Ano Una at the 2008 SXSW Film Festival. Here is my review:

I just saw it, better late than never.

I heard that it was similar to Chris Marker's "La Jeté", and in fact it is, but only in the form. The narrative is more linear and traditional, although curiously the screenplay for 'Año Uña' was written just AFTER Jonás Cuarón took all the pictures. So the pictures dictated the story not vice versa. Pretty Godardian in that sense.
Finally "La Jetée" is a sci-fi short, while 'Año Uña' is basically a romantic drama.

Actually IMO 'Año Uña' is more similar to José Luis Guerín's "Unas fotos en la ciudad de Sylvia".

Interesting debut from Jonás Cuarón. Let's see if the shadow of his father is not too heavy to bear for Jonás.
