What was the reason for this film?

Aside the fact that the main actors are all over 40, which is a good thing, this film, in my opinion, was pointless. I don't understand how it got funded. Mira Sorvino is a good actress, who hasn't gotten the breaks she deserved since MIGHTY APHRODITE and Dana Delany is gorgeous. Period. But I really didn't like this film. It was boring. Dull. Long. I didn't care about Hutton's character. No wonder it grossed under $50,000.

Hey James,

My children are over 40, so I am more than old enough to appreciate your positive note about the main actors being over 40. In fact, I really like the main actors in this film, so when I saw who was in it, I thought for sure it would be a film I would enjoy watching. Geez, was I wrong. I wasn't just a bit wrong; I was way off base wrong and missed the barn by about 12 yards.

Like you, I also did not care for Hutton's character. I don't know if it's my age or what, but I seem to have lost interest real fast when when it appeared that Hutton's character was going to remain sloppy and unkempt and talk about touching vaginas. I have nothing against touching vaginas. There can be great sport in the practice, but the discussion of the subject in this film seemed neither sporting nor interesting.

I used to sit through all films no matter how much I may have disliked them. I have not been so tolerant in recent decades, however. I did not make it 30 minutes into the film when I looked to my wife and asked her if she had enough. She looked at me and turned her thumb down. She also has long enjoyed Hutton, Delaney, Channing, and Sorvino, but we both also wondered what was the reason for the film.

Best wishes,
Dave Wile
