26 'measly' percent in Rotten Tomatoes, that bad?

How sad, the critics slaughtered this film and I really looked forward to it! They say Michelle's impressive acting couldn't even save it :( but I love thrillers so can anyone who seen this movie tell me if the ending has a good twist to it

Why not see it yourself and form you own opinion? Don't let the critics scare you off. It's out on DVD in the UK now, and will be on DVD in the US in May.

I saw it last night and I really liked it, and I know people who've seen it and also really liked it. I do think the characters should have been fleshed out more, as you don't get to know them very well, but I was still engaged and definitely cared what happened to them. Yes, Michelle was very good. Ewan was good too, but he doesn't have much to say; and Matthew I thought was just stiff, but again he didn't have many lines. It's a shame with such good actors that they didn't have more to do.

Incidentally, if you've read the book, the story in the film is quite different in certain parts, especially the ending, unless my memory is very bad. I did read it quite some time ago. To answer your question, I wouldn't say the ending is a twist, but it came as a surprise to me because I was expecting something else.

I was kind of surprised after reading that it had gotten really bad reviews. Its not an awesome movie but it certainly is better than some of the movies coming out lately. Though i got to say i was expecting abit more from it.

It's not a thriller and shouldn't have been listed as such.

I read the book, which I really liked, adn am looking forward to getting my DVD in May.
I know from what I have read, that is is quite different then the book, but
I am pretty sure I will still enjoy it, if for no other reason, then
Ewan McGregor is in it. He is always a treat...

Read the book and forget all about the movie.

Pointless and a total waste of lottery funding. Absolute garbage film. First half is passable and the second half is absolute sentimental tripe. The critics were right to slaughter this garbage. I'm thinking that if you take a percentage of movies made by the british film industry then 95% made are crap.

no its not that bad, its not perfect and its not a film for everyone cos it is very depressing but it is a good film, well i thought so anyway!

reply

It is not bad because it is depressing. It is bad because the story is a serious mess with no real focus. It is even worse if you have read book which is very well written and perfectly structured. But anyway, the movie is bad enough without comparing it to the book behind it.

Rodwac, couldn't agree more.

There was no focus to this film at all. It never had a clear "point" for anyone to relate to. While I don't feel every film must have its point laid out for you, this one is just all over the place and the message it gives in the end isn't really relative to all the events that take place throughout the film. That's how I feel at least.

That's right. Nor could Ewan's, nor Matthew's. It's that bad.
And whoever said this is a thriller requires urgent medical attention and/or detox.

There's trying to get the audience to be sympathetic, and then there's beating them over the head with cliches...

Also, I had no idea who if any of the characters I was supposed to like. The young asian lad was the only one remotely likeable and his parts were just there so the woman could get shot in the head.

Lame film.
