We went to a private screening last night.... The film is fantastic, they have worked really hard and the outcome great, The cast are fab, The small boy was adorable and very very good, Michelle Williams is brillant, her accent is spot on. Ewan Mcgregor is brillant asusual and Matthew MAcfayden brillant as always and Nicholas Gleaves. It really is great, we are still buzzing from it and can not wait for it to be realeased here in the UK.

Hi smallstar...did they happen to mention when the film will be released...in the UK or US?

reply

Hi, The talk was Dec in US and then Jan here in the UK,

reply

Thanks again for all of the great info, smallstar - I loved reading what you had to say!

I really, really hope we do get a release date of December here in the US. That would be fantastic. I feel like I've been waiting years to see this film. Not patiently, either.

reply

It will be worth the wait, Michelle Williams perfomance is outstanding, it is a very emotional film, you feel the bond she had with The boy ,(Sidney) and then you feel her pain. Brillant. WOW !

reply

So, smallstar, you posted in a previous thread that it was Autumn 2008 but now you say December 2008 for the US and Jan. 2009 for the UK.
What?

reply

What ??????
We were told at the screening Dec for the US and Jan 2009...but hey it can always change

reply

Sorry smallstar but I was just wondering since the release date hasn't been officially announced for those countries on Capitol's film site or anywhere that I am aware of but it does say Jan. 2009 for Netherlands here on IMDb so this is big news and I just wanted to make sure...thanks

Any information on Natalie Dormer's role?

smallstar---I am glad that you enjoyed the film.

I also read a review by DAndyFopp on this thread. He/she didn't like the film at all. Thought it to over the top, and Ewan McGregor was under used. I don't like to hear that, as Ewan is the main reason I want to see the film.

Was Ewan's role very small?

Thanks for your take on the film...I hope I get to see it by the end of the year....

reply

Michelle Williams is the main character in the film, she is pretty much in all the scenes, and brillant I must say. Ewan is in the film a lot, it's not his biggest part but the part he plays is good, the film has changed slightly from the one that was shown at sundance, there is alot more of Ewan now and I know the ending has changed from the orginal,
but hey who doesn'nt want more of Ewan?

More Ewan - I love the sound of that!

Another screening at a film fest, the London UK Film Fest, but only for buyers! Capitol Films says "new version"

O.K....

reply

smallstar----Thanks for all the informatoin, and I love the fact that Ewan will be in it more, and that he was very good. I love hearing that!!!

I hope they don't change the date again...

reply

I decided to read the book.

I loved the book, but from what I have read about the film, a lot of changes were made in the film.

I hope it is not to drastic a change, as the book was really really good.

I thought the movie was fairly decent, but man, Michelle Williams was great.

This film really cemented her in my mind as a great talent. Previous to this I thought she was another Katie Holmes kind of actress, landed some teen soap opera roles when she was young, didn't have much talent. But I was wrong, she is a real talent and a pleasure to watch.
