This Wasn't What I Was Expecting...

I guess I was expecting something like Liam Neeson's "Taken" where she loses her son so she decides to go on a rampage and stop the terrorists herself. I expected an action thriller with this one which is what this is not.

Omg I loved Taken. Wow, that movie was great.

I think the film was definitely marketed as a conspiracy/woman fighting to expose the truth film because that would have gotten people to theaters. I was definitely expecting more action but was pleasantly surprised by the focus of the film.

I had this on my Netflix queue for the longest time and had completely forgetten about it until it arrived yesterday. Here's the summary:

"Director Sharon Maguire's powerful drama stars Michelle Williams as an adulterous young housewife struggling to come to terms with the deaths of her husband and infant son after they're killed in a terrorist bombing at a London soccer game. Crippled by grief, the widow seeks comfort through affairs with two men (Ewan McGregor and Matthew Macfadyen), inadvertently putting herself in the midst of a dangerous love triangle."

So I was equally surprised by the film's focus as well.

I stumbled upon this film from the smallest listing in the TV magazine, which basically said nothing about the story except it was a drama.

So I didn't even know it was about a terrorist attack, and when that moment came as viewed on her TV, it was as much a shock to me as it was to the characters played by Michelle and Ewan! I thought I was watching a relationship/infidelity drama, and there comes this massive turn of events. That surprise was great entertainment though it's irksome to word it that way considering the tragic material, but you know what I mean.

Fickle is he that says farewell when the road darkens.
